Opened in 1998, Posada Amazonas is a 30-bedroom rainforest lodge located in South Eastern Peru in the Amazon basin.
It is an eco-tourism concept and a successful pilot in community and private partnerships working to enhance relationships between tourism, sustainable development and conservation.
The lodge is community-owned (local Community of Infierno) and co-managed by Rainforest Expeditions (a Peruvian ecotourism company founded in 1992 by Eduardo Nycander and Kurt Holle). The community receives 60% of the profits and will fully manage the lodge by 2016.
